The AIAA Sacramento Section welcomes Alan Goff who will discuss a launch architecture that utilizes a flock of rocketplanes to launch one of them into orbit. A disruptive technology initially underperforms in the current market/value structure, but can mature through a different market with a different value structure, eventually dominating the initial market. Since a rocketplane cannot reach orbit on its own (under performs) it is a candidate disruptive technology and FLOC is one way in which it might come to supplant conventional launch architectures. This talk will present the disruptive technology model, the FLOC concept, and a growth path of technological development and market penetration that shows the practicality and promise of this approach. |
