An Evening Under the Stars at Cameron Park Observatory
Written by Administrator
Tuesday, 21 August 2007

Tim Geoghegan will be your personal lead docent at this private session - AIAA ONLY on 6 September 2007 at the Cameron Park Observatory. This new community jewel is brought to you by the Cameron Park Rotary Club, the El Dorado County Office of Education, and Folsom Lake College.
Join us for this special event as it will prove memorable.  We will start with an AIAA provided Tailgate party beginning at 7PM in the parking lot. Due to the size of the observatory, we have a strict limit on attendance of 30 ppeople.
At 8PM Tim and his fellow docents will be greeting you with a short introduction to the equipment at the observatory and the viewing list for the night.  Our AIAA chapter will be presenting a donation to the observatory.  Then it is out to the scopes for a  night of viewing deep space objects throughout the heavens.

Dress appropriately for the weather – light jackets and warm shoes.  Etiquette includes no bright flashlights (penlite at most) and no flash photography. Begin dark-adapting your eyes when you arrive – do not look into any bright lights.
If you have binoculars, bring them. Tim will likely give you some challenging objects to try to locate.  For sure we will enjoy dedicated viewing through telescopes from 6” to 14” in diameter as well as real-time Digital Video.
